## BNB Chain Combats MEV Sandwich Attacks with Good Will Alliance
BNB Chain has launched the Good Will Alliance to address malicious maximal extractable value (MEV) practices, particularly sandwich attacks, which have cost users hundreds of millions of dollars. This initiative aims to unite infrastructure builders, validators, and the community to improve security and establish ethical standards within the BNB ecosystem.
### Initial Focus: Mitigating Sandwich Attacks
The alliance’s initial focus is mitigating sandwich attacks through advanced filtering. Infrastructure providers like BlockRazor and 48 Club have already deployed specialized filters in their block-building processes. A GitHub repository lists compliant builders, and BSC validators are encouraged to accept block bids only from this vetted group.
### Long-Term Strategy for Network Fairness
BNB Chain’s long-term strategy involves defining clearer criteria for identifying sandwich attacks, developing sophisticated detection tools, and fostering deeper community collaboration. These efforts will evolve through governance processes, BNB Evolution Proposals (BEPs), and regular codebase updates.
### Strong Community Support and Future Expansion
The initiative has received strong community support, with a DAO proposal passing with 79% approval. This proposal highlights the need for community-driven measures, including penalties for malicious builders, exclusion of irresponsible validators, and adoption of safer RPC nodes and MEV-protected wallets. The Good Will Alliance plans to expand its scope throughout 2025, seeking new members and introducing additional community-oriented security projects.
