Grayscale has released a list of various cryptocurrencies, including meme coins and AI tokens, that may be added to its investment products in the future.
The investment manager will adjust its product catalog within 15 days after the end of each quarter, ensuring that it reflects the most up-to-date information as part of its review process.
Looking ahead to the first quarter of 2025, Grayscale is considering the addition of 39 different altcoins as potential investment candidates. According to the official statement, these altcoins are categorized into five main groups: currencies, smart contract platforms, finance, consumer and culture, as well as utilities and services.
Here’s a glimpse of the assets under consideration by Grayscale:
- Currencies: Kaspa (KAS)
- Smart Contract Platforms: Aptos (APT), Arbitrum (ARB), Celestia (TIA), Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR), Mantle (MNT), Sei (SEI), Sonic (S), StarkNet (STRK), Toncoin (TON), Tron (TRX)
- Finance: Aerodrome (AERO), Binance Coin (BNB), Ethena (ENA), Hyperliquid (HYPE)*, Injective Protocol (INJ), Jupiter (JUP), Ondo Finance (ONDO), Pendle (PENDLE), THORChain (RUNE)
- Consumer and Culture: Ai16z (AI16Z), Dogecoin (DOGE), Immutable (IMX), Virtual Protocol (VIRTUAL)
- Utilities and Services: Akash Network (AKT), Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET), Arweave (AR), Eigen Layer (EIGEN), FLock.io (FLOCK), Grass (GRASS), Helium (HNT), Hyperbolic*, Jito (JTO), Prime Intellect*, Pyth (PYTH), Sentient*, Space and Time*, Story Protocol*, Worldcoin (WLD)
This isn’t Grayscale’s first venture into adding altcoins to its investment offerings; the firm previously included 35 different altcoins in its catalog in mid-October.
It’s notable that some coins from the previous list, such as KAS, APT, ARB, and TIA, remain in the updated collection. In contrast, several others have been removed, highlighting the complexities tied to Grayscale’s investment projects.
The company stated, “This list may be altered throughout the quarter as part of the reorganization of certain multi-asset funds and the announcement of new single-asset products.”
Assets or projects marked with an asterisk (*) have only been added to the list after December 31 and may depend on emerging trends in the evolving cryptocurrency market.
The updated list indicates Grayscale’s focus on real-world assets (RWA), decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePin), and a significant interest in AI agent tokens.
Furthermore, Grayscale’s inclusion of tokens linked to both centralized exchanges (CEX) and decentralized exchanges (DEX), such as Binance Coin (BNB) and Hyperliquid (HYPE), suggests the firm’s intention to engage in both market segments, thereby broadening its investment horizon.
However, the announcement has not led to significant price movements for the 39 altcoins listed, as the market has experienced sustained liquidations over the past week, with a temporary price uptick observed today.
