The long-standing legal battle between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has come to a conclusion. On March 19, Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, announced this development on X.
Garlinghouse expressed his relief and optimism, stating that this moment had finally arrived and that the SEC would be withdrawing its appeal. He characterized this outcome as a complete victory for Ripple and the broader cryptocurrency industry. In a video accompanying his post, he declared that the lawsuit is now over and that it marks the end of the lengthy conflict.
This resolution brings to a close a four-year legal struggle, which began when the SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple in December 2020, accusing the company of selling $1.3 billion in unregistered securities.
